We have athletes here of all levels: some brand new; some who have been doing CrossFit for years. We have room for everyone. CrossFit is more than a workout. It’s a community. Yes, you will get in great shape. That’s what initially attracted each of us to CrossFit. However, we all quickly realized we gained so much more. We met wonderful friends, learned to go to the dark places and struggle through discomfort, and come out on the other side better than before. Believe us when we say it is so much more exciting to see your body do things it couldn’t do before than it is to see the scale drop a few pounds. CrossFit is about FITNESS. It’s training the body to perform as it’s meant to perform so we can enjoy life more: whether that means picking up our groceries or kids and grandkids without getting hurt or hiking, swimming, biking, paddle boarding or playing sports for fun and adventure.
What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen. Thousands of athletes worldwide have followed our workouts posted daily on this site and distinguished themselves in combat, the streets, the ring, stadiums, gyms and homes.
CrossFit for Kids & Teens
CROSSFIT KIDS
CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit, it is entirely, absolutely CrossFit. It is designed for a special population and the specific developmental needs of that populations: neurological, cognitive, motor. The CrossFit Kids program at Real Fitness Sarasota delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Healthy living requires that our kids push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, jump. We help kids perform these moves effectively and safely regardless of whether or not they play athletics. CrossFit Kids builds a strong foundation for a life-long active lifestyle. Our CrossFit Kids’ coaches are phenomenal! Trained to teach proper movements to reduce the risk of injury, our coaches also HAVE FUN with your kids while they teach, encourage, and motivate them to use their body as it was meant to be used. Your kids will LOVE CrossFit Kids–and you will love the increased confidence and improved self-discipline that comes from CrossFit!
CROSSFIT TEENS
CrossFit is a core strength-and-conditioning program. It’s not a specialized fitness program; it’s a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains: cardiovascular & respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. In the CrossFit Teens class, teens improve their fitness in these ten fitness domains. They’ll also learn how the body works as they gain strength, mobility and functionality. Controlling the body during performance means they’ll gain muscle control! When body control improves, technique and performance improves. At CrossFit Teens, we’ll explain how the exercises we’re doing in training translates to their sport–or into their everyday life–so teens know WHY we’re doing them. When that clicks, they make changes and SEE GAINS fast! We’ve seen great progress when teens join the CrossFit Teens program at Real Fitness Sarasota. The CrossFit Teens program is for athletes of all levels: conditioned athletes, casual sports participants–even bored teens looking to add activity to an otherwise sedentary life. Don’t get nervous that someone isn’t fit enough to sign up–everything can be scaled! On the flip side, don’t think because a teen is already a star athlete, the class will be too easy. We guarantee it’ll be challenging. One more thing: We can say with confidence that the classes will be structured within the Spirit of CrossFit—where camaraderie builds community. So, nobody will be left out of feel discouraged.
CHILDCARE
We love kids, and we don’t want childcare to be the reason you can’t make it in for your WOD! So, we offer FREE childcare to members during our busiest hours. You’re welcome to bring your children to use the kids’ room during those hours we don’t have a childcare provider provided they are of the age where they can be left unattended. Childcare hours: Monday & Wednesday 4p-7p and Saturday 9a-Noon
