Detailed Information

Local Pitmasters Since ’68 In 1968, we were just a local BBQ joint in Gainesville, Florida. Today, we’re still a local BBQ joint. We just happen to be in a few more locations. But we still do things the same way Floyd “Sonny” Tillman and his wife, Lucille, did back then. We still slow-smoke over oak for up to 12 hours at a time. We still serve generous portions. And we still believe people should be able to go out to eat and feel right at home. OUR MENU

Pork. Beef. Chicken. Turkey. We smoke it all. Over real oak. For a real long time—up to 12 hours, to be exact.

BBQ without sides? Not around here. Especially with delicious sides like homemade coleslaw, BBQ beans, mac & cheese and more.

While slow smokin’ is our specialty, we’re good at other things, too. Grillin’, fryin’ and eatin’ are a few that come to mind.

If you’re eatin’ BBQ, there’s bound to be some sharing. Our appetizers are a good way to get the plate-passin’ underway.

Meat-eaters and leaf-lovers can both agree that our salads are delicious. With or without our slow-smoked favorites on top.

A little something sweet is the perfect end to any meal. Our desserts are made in house using original recipes and fresh ingredients. Sharing is optional.

In The Community

Whether it was one location in ’68, or 124 and counting today, Sonny’s has been, and always will be, a local BBQ joint. But being local isn’t just about where you’re located. It’s about where you’re rooted. And every Sonny’s location is deeply rooted in the communities we serve.

Spreading the spirit of BBQ is all about giving back to the people who mean something to us. And since you’re like family to us, we want to be like family for you too! That’s why Sonny’s BBQ Franchise owner, Edward Titen and his management team created BBQ to the Rescue, a not for profit organization that helps raise funds for people who are in need of a helping hand. The smoker on wheels, designed specifically for BBQ to the Rescue, is sent out into the Palm Harbor, Largo and New Port Richey communities to spread the spirit of BBQ. The truck is sent out with the goal to improve the quality of life for those less fortunate. By raising funds, Sonny’s BBQ is supporting the people who have helped support us all these years. We aim to do this by donating 100% of the proceeds made at each BBQ to the Rescue event to a specific cause – and in turn, help ease the burden of life’s tough obstacles for these deserving people. The passion behind BBQ to the Rescue stems from our desire to make the biggest difference we can for the people we care about the most. Sonny’s BBQ donates the truck, the food and the time to make sure that happens. All you need to do is show up and enjoy some delicious BBQ!

Making the world a better place one delicious deed at a time.

We believe in giving back to the communities we serve. One way we do this is through Random Acts of BBQ—an unexpected recognition of people who spark the spirit of BBQ in our communities. Do you know someone who is selflessly giving their time and talent to others in your community with little recognition? At Sonny’s, we call that spreading the spirit of BBQ. So, please join us in surprising these sparks in our community with a BBQ feast that not only fills their stomach but also their soul.
